 2023 Happy New Year

I’m still on the soft drinks so far.

But most New Year’s resolutions have been broken by the majority by now.

But it’s not your fault.

Following a binge worthy December, you set out with the best of intentions. You actually believe as soon as the clock strikes 12 on New Year’s Day, it’s doable quitting alcohol, meat, smoking, chocolate …. But most of us are being unrealistic. Addictions don’t stop because the calendar changes and our problems and habits don’t suddenly disappear.

If you were stressed last year, chances are you’ll be just as stressed this year too, unless you do something to change.

And that usually requires some support. If you could stop eating unhealthily or drinking wine, wouldn’t you have already done it by now?

I know its not easy. I love a drink and takeout too!

And those aren’t bad, in fact they can make us feel good, they only become an issue when we no longer enjoy them and do them to cope with our daily lives.

Yes, a glass of wine can be a quick fix but it’s not a long-term solution to stress.

The problem with stress is, it’s become a normal part of our daily lives. Tension headaches, tight shoulders and neck and IBS have become part of who we are. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Yes, Parental Burnout is real. And it’s more than the general feeling of frustration you get when making packed lunches for school, helping with homework or ironing the school uniforms.

It’s an accumulation of stress that causes acute exhaustion over time, leaving you feeling emotionally drained and disconnected.

It’s as if there’s no joy left in your life, which can cause poor sleeping patterns, unhealthy diet choices and even substance abuse. Which end up taking a toll on both physical and mental health, manifesting as apathy, stress and anxiety.

If you slow down enough to become aware of your habits and physical niggles and make small change’s, you would be able to manage stress and eliminate a lot of those unhelpful habits and physical issues.

Hypnotherapy and Meditation can also help.
